The truth is I am unsure how to “dispose” of this blog. My initial plan was to write one awesome post <s>for the first time ever</s>, pack my databases, and then dance merrily off into the graveyard of misunderstood bloggers. However, I don’t even have enough interest in TVB now to follow these steps. This is not a case of writer’s block – the writer chooses to protect herself from the material. Yes, there is a difference. Studying to earn a PhD degree already eats up most of my time, and I wish to continue using leftover hours to indulge in real-life activities such as eating, drinking plenty of fluids, using the restroom, working, and <s>playing Final Fantasy XIII and chasing fatties on Fat Princess</s> all that good stuff.

Thank you very much to the readers and fellow bloggers who have supported me and left kind messages. You all are still here, right? I don’t want to come off as delusional in what could be my very last entry. Whew, what a relief. I may return one day to torture you all with broken humor and puzzling comics, so be on guard or just not visit. You know, whichever is easier.

Leaving a blog idle for three months is carefree (not to mention slightly embarrassing)… until the cleanup work begins to pile up to a frightening level. The first item I need to check off is the relaunching of the Gallery section that has been down for nearly half a year. With the ongoing sale of DVD releases at YesAsia (consider stocking up now!), I have managed to add a few new sets of 80’s classics to my inventory, and consequently have more screen captures to share.

Perhaps the most important task to complete though is “doing research”, meaning watching a new TVB series. Rosy Business and Emergency Unit have both been generating positive reviews and ratings, but I am leaning a lot more towards the former; the fierce combination of Sheren Tang and Wayne Lai demands attention, and the script appears to be equally strong regardless of whether it is a duplicate of a Mainland drama. In addition, the “Lucky Prince and Little Princess” blog romance in Emergency Unit already turns me off. If you have seen these series, I would love to read your thoughts on them. What are your impressions on the various characters, plots, and performances?

Next on the list is writing a fan fiction. I realize the idea is cliché, but my goal is not penning a love story between two TVB actors who are not actually dating. It is more a matter of preference than it is one of quality, as there must be many well-written, romantic fan fictions dedicated to specific pairings in cyberspace. I am an inadequate writer of romance that is not geeky, so having my contributions will not help that part of TVB fandom. My target genre is science fiction, and the story will most likely be a satire/parody and structured as a script. I want something that is fun for me to write and read, and hopefully, for others as well.

Everything is still being brainstormed, so I have nothing too unexpected to announce while I slowly reform the blog.

Greetings from the other side of the fence (mine is overrun with invasive and noxious weeds)! As promised, I have returned in June, and not a nanosecond sooner. My initial plan was to come back from hiatus a week ago, but my extra classes during the summer are still taking up slots in my schedule usually reserved for “slack off time”. In summary, I looked at the math, panicked, and procrastinated. Then I did nothing until today, which resulted in an incomplete layout. While I continue to edit it, I hope you enjoy the revival of a dark design for the blog. And do notify me of any broken links or misaligned elements. I feel relieved to be back.

Thank you all for the support and patience! Please don’t underestimate the power of your kind words.

Yes, it’s true! <a href="http://www.tvbreflections.net/"class="Tips2" title="TVB Reflections" >TVB Reflections has somehow managed to survive one year and will likely continue to annoy its readers with sporadic updates and frequent hiatuses. Those who have not given up on its elusive author may remember that this small blog once debuted on the publishing platform Blogger in late 2007. Although it is now powered by <a href="http://www.wordpress.org"class="Tips2" title="Wordpress" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Wordpress and hosted elsewhere, this nonetheless calls for acknowledgment. And as a very generous birthday gift, TVB Guide’s TkN has written an exclusive “Behind the Scenes” feature.

During these past 12 months spent as a blogger, I have had the privilege to meet a number of very friendly people, some of whom I consider my online friends. Even a few appreciate my weird sense of humor. Surprising? Yes. To those I am not too familiar with: I am usually harmless unless provoked, so don’t be shy!

Thank you for having lived through a full year of random disappearances, sarcasm, and questionable jokes among other things. Your support has been much appreciated. I think you deserve a pat on the back for still having the patience to visit this site more than I do for still having the desire to maintain it. As for the future, I hope to publish at a quicker pace, but I favor quality over quantity. At least that’s my official excuse. I will only promise this: to keep writing entries for myself even when you may not like reading them. Now off to another year of craziness we go!

For the past few days, I’ve been working on this new layout to make the site more clean, organized, and content-oriented. Below are notable changes:

Search form is located above entries on the top right

Sidebar is located on the right

The “Latest Photos” section is located below the entries

Other sections previously located on the left sidebar are now in the footer to minimize clutter elsewhere

The music player is now at the bottom of the page

The current banner and link button will be replaced next week. In the meantime, feel free to make a suggestion on the next actor/actress or pairing to be featured.

If you find anything that looks odd, please notify me. The layout has been tested in all major browsers including Internet Explorer 6 (I still don’t recommend it) to function properly.

On an unrelated note, a banner I recently made for Esther Kwan’s Realm is up. To see the full banner, visit Anime Master 179002’s excellent site for the talented actress.

Returning to the blogging world from a three-week long hiatus, I’ve created some patterns and coded a new layout for the site. Since I’m a huge fan of dark themes, this layout sports another black color scheme. I realize that summer is fast approaching, but I suppose this is a demonstration of my hopeless stance against the warm temperatures.

Regarding browser compatibility, although the safe, flexible, and highly customizable <a href="http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/"rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Firefox is recommended, I’ve tried my best to make the layout compatible in all popular browsers – yes, even the buggy Internet Explorer 6 that fails to render some codes properly and lacks support for certain types of images (e.g. PNG). However, please do let me know if you find anything that looks odd. I’m always open to suggestions on improving any aspects of this site.
